For young people

You belong in
the conversation.

Moving somewhere new can bring a lot of questions. We want you to know what to expect, who you can talk to and how you can make the place feel like home.

Before you arrive

Get to know us.

Where possible, you can visit, meet staff and ask questions before moving in. Tell us what matters to you, what you enjoy and anything that worries you.

Your first days

Take it one step at a time.

A key worker helps you settle in. We’ll show you around, help with essentials and go through your Welcome Handbook together, giving you time to ask questions.

Your voice matters

You help shape
your support.

What would you like to learn? What is working for you? What would you like to change? Your views help shape your plan and the way we run the service.

You can talk to your key worker, give feedback or ask an advocate to help you speak up.

Things you might want to know

Your questions,
answered.

Will I have my own room?

Yes. Each young person has a furnished bedroom. We’ll talk with you about making it feel like your own space.

Do I have to know how to cook and manage money already?

You do not need to have every skill worked out. We agree practical goals with you, based on what you can already do and what you want to learn. Your social worker and our team will first consider whether this type of accommodation is right for you.

Can I stay in touch with people who matter to me?

We support positive relationships and appropriate contact with family, friends and your wider network. We discuss visits and any safety arrangements with you.

Will my identity and beliefs be respected?

Yes. Your culture, religion, language and identity matter. Tell us about the things that help you feel understood, included and comfortable.

What if I am unhappy about something?

You can speak to a staff member, contact the manager, make a complaint or ask for an independent advocate. You will not be treated unfairly for raising a concern. You can also complain anonymously.

Can I contact you myself?

You can ask us questions directly. Accommodation referrals are arranged through placing authorities, so speak to your social worker or leaving-care worker about a placement.
