Overview
In addition to our supported accommodation services, The Bridging Gap provides temporary and managed move-on accommodation for adults aged 18+, working in partnership with local authorities to support B&B avoidance, emergency placements, and short-term stabilisation.
Our service is designed to offer a safe, structured, and well-managed shared living environment while longer-term housing solutions are arranged.
Our Temporary Accommodation Offer
We operate small-scale, managed shared properties that are suitable for short-notice placements and interim accommodation needs.
Our TA / move-on service includes:
- Fully furnished shared accommodation
- Clear house rules and occupancy expectations
- Active management and staff oversight
- Short-term placements (typically 14–28 days, extendable by agreement)
- Focus on safety, stability, and move-on planning
This service is not social housing or permanent accommodation, but a temporary solution to support homelessness duties.
Who the Service Is Suitable For
Our TA / move-on accommodation is suitable for:
- Single adults aged 18+
- Individuals requiring structure and stability
- People suitable for shared accommodation
- Placements aimed at short-term stabilisation and move-on
Not suitable for:
- Unmanaged high-risk anti-social behaviour
- Serious violence or arson risk
- Severe unmanaged substance misuse
- Placements requiring specialist or clinical care
This ensures placements are safe, sustainable, and appropriate for a shared environment.
Staffing & Management
Our accommodation is actively managed, with staffing arrangements proportionate to risk.
We provide:
- On-site staff presence (where required)
- 24/7 on-call management
- Clear escalation and incident management procedures
- Ongoing liaison with local authority teams
Staffing levels can be reviewed and adjusted by agreement where a placement requires increased supervision.
Working with Local Authorities
We work closely with:
- Housing Options teams
- Homelessness and Temporary Accommodation services
- Prevention and move-on teams
Placements are typically arranged through:
- Nightly paid / spot-purchase agreements
- Short-term pilot placements
- Direct referrals for emergency or interim accommodation
We are happy to:
- Share a short overview pack
- Arrange a property visit
- Discuss a short pilot placement to assess suitability
Compliance & Safety
Our properties meet required standards for temporary accommodation, including:
- Gas Safety Certification
- Electrical Safety (EICR)
- Fire Risk Assessment
- Appropriate insurance for managed accommodation
- Clear house rules and behaviour expectations
Safety of residents, staff, and the local community is a priority in all placements.
